This is the third year for the Women's Fund of Vanderburgh County to energize the women in our community in order to make a difference in the lives of women and children. But there is nothing "old hat" about it! Each year, this tireless group of women begin to do it all over again!

Jingle Igleheart Hagey is one of the women who has put her heart into the Women's Fund. This year, she is co-chair of the advisory board, along with Lisa Jones.

"I can't just sit back,"Hagey explains. "We all have a great deal of responsibility to give back. My parents have taught all of us children that, and I think we have done a good job of it. We believe that and we are trying to pass it on to our own children."

And that is just what many women are doing again this year. They are joining together to give back!

Barbara Dicken, director of the Vanderburgh Community Foundation, which administers the Women's Fund, says, "The Women's Fund of Vanderburgh County has taken this community by storm! I receive calls and checks every day from women who are excited just to be part of it."

Hagey says women should consider being involved in the Women's Fund for three important reasons. "First, they can make a difference. Second, because we're giving the money in one place at a time, it's going to have a large impact. And third, if you become a member, you get to vote-you get a say in where this money is going to go. The idea that we get to vote on where the money goes is pretty exciting."

"Women hold almost a majority of wealth in this country, and we hope that they will join as a group here in order to have a noticeable impact," says Hagey. "Evansville is the size of town where one person can make a difference, and you don't have to be wealthy to do it."

"The deadline for the women to contribute is June 30," Dicken said. "So we cannot announce the grant amount until mid-July.  We already know it will be significant again this year.  We are just waiting for all the last-minute gifts to come in!"
