When our donors give unrestricted gifts, they allow the Foundation's trustees to determine how their gifts can best serve the community from year to year as needs and programs change. The earnings from these gifts are distributed through our Community Impact Grants Program. This program has allowed the foundation to assist more than 125 agencies over the past 15 years. Below is a list of our most recent Community Impact Grants:
Albion Fellows Bacon Center
$8,600 for the continuation of their Children's Program which provides a safe environment for children to share their fears and receive counseling services
Carver Community Organization
$5,000 for educational materials and supplies, equipment and program marketing for the Experience Corps Program, which addresses early adolescent high-risk behaviors
Early Childhood Development Coalition
$8,000 to help with staff expenses related to marketing, literacy parties and workshops, and provide materials, projects and activities with families with young children, and help with the cost of evaluation
Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center
$5,000 for Creative Day Care Curriculum for children of all abilities
ECHO Community Health Care
$8,000 to continue the Keep Kids Current initiative, which began with VCF funding last year and provides education to parents of uninsured and underinsured children to establish a medical home for preventive care
Evansville ARC
$5,000 to renovate a portion of the Child Life Center playground
Girl Scouts of Raintree Council
$5,000 total for the "Discovering You" After School Program which targets underserved, at-risk elementary and middle school girls, to help build self-esteem
Habitat for Humanity of Evansville
$5,000 for the research phase of the Glenwood Community Development Project
Matthew 25 Aids Services
$1,675 to purchase a binocular microscope, blood pressure cuff, and glucose meter kit for work with Aids patients in Vanderburgh County
Meals on Wheels of Evansville
$1,500 for the purchase of two new hot boxes
Mental Health America
$5,000 for emergency psychiatric medication for the poor and uninsured in our community
St. Vincent's Day Care Center
$5,000 to upgrade the safety of the infant/toddler playground by removing lead paint surrounding the playground
Tri-State Food Bank
$8,600 for their "Back Pack Food for Kids" program which provides backpacks filled with food for at-risk kids to bring home on the weekends
Vanderburgh Community Council on Aging
$5,000 for the "Handyman Program" to purchase and install assist devices in the homes of the elderly, low income residents to help prevent them from falling and getting injured.
