VCF Assists Professional Advisors
On February 11, 2008, the Vanderburgh Community Foundation sponsored the speaker for a meeting of Evansville Estate Planning Professionals. Phil Purcell, Vice President of Planned Giving and Endowment Stewardship for Ball State University Foundation spoke about "What's New in Philanthropy and Estate Planning". The presentation includes a review of new legal, tax, and planning opportunities for incorporating philanthropy in estate plans.
Prior to his position at Ball State University Foundation, Purcell served as Director of Gift Planning for the Central Indiana Community Foundation in Indianapolis, where he created and directed the Planned Giving Resource Center serving area charitable organizations. He is an attorney and member of the American and Indiana State Bar Associations and has held positions with the St. Vincent Hospital Foundation as Director of Development and Planned Gifts and with Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology as Director of Planned Giving and Development Counsel where he assisted with the successful completion of a $100 million campaign.
Purcell has consulted on behalf of all types of charitable organizations, including the Lilly Endowment's GIFT program serving community foundations throughout Indiana. His consulting has focused on philanthropy (e.g., fundraising, planned giving) and nonprofit governance (e.g., strategic planning, nonprofit governance). He received his B.A. degree from Wabash College in 1981 (magna cum laude) and his J.D. and M.P.A. degrees (with honors) from Indiana University in 1985. |
