Meals on Wheels
Meals on Wheels has been serving our community since 1965. The continued support of the community has allowed us to serve hot, nutritious meals to the homebound.
Hot is the operative word! Our meals arrive at the doors of our clients hot, and ready to eat. The tool that allows us to do this so successfully is a "hot box". This equipment is designed to keep the meal at the desired temperature throughout the delivery process. Keeping our meals hot is not only safe, but also more convenient for our clients.
This equipment is quite costly and this year through the generosity of the Vanderburgh Community Foundation, we were able to purchase two (2) boxes. In 2009 we propose to serve 28,000 meals to approximately 325 dependent individuals, allowing them to remain in their own homes with dignity and independence. We thank the Foundation and we are especially grateful for those in the community who give to the Foundation for the purpose of making our community a better place to live.
Thank you,
Myrrl L. Choate, Executive Director
