Matthew 25
Established in 1996 by a group of concerned members at Zion UCC church in Henderson, KY, Matthew 25 AIDS Services, Inc. is now an independent non-profit agency working to bring services to persons living with HIV/AIDS in the Tri-State, since its conception. Matthew 25's mission is to educate, support and treat those infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS.
Matthew 25 currently offers a variety of services to individuals from Henderson and Owensboro, KY, Evansville, IN and all outlying counties throughout the area. We have satellite clinics in these three cities. Matthew 25 provides specialized medical services in our clinic locations and holistic care focusing on treatment of the person, not just the disease. Being HIV-positive greatly increases the risk to the clients for contracting opportunistic infections. Having the ability to diagnose and treat many of the more common infections early has the benefit of not only reducing the need for expensive trips to the emergency room, but also freeing up vital resources for the person's body to focus more on fighting their HIV infection.
In order to help us with this project, the Vanderburgh Community Foundation generously granted us the funds to purchase a binocular microscope for the lab in the Evansville clinic. We are actively diagnosing and treating a variety of infections that would have taken longer to discover and been potentially more harmful to the clients, if treatment were delayed. Additionally, HIV clients are at risk for diabetes, so having a blood glucose meter in the clinic is essential to monitoring those who are exhibiting signs of susceptibility to diabetic conditions. The foundation also gave us the funds to purchase the meter kits for the office in Evansville. Monitoring blood pressure is also essential to overall good health, and we now have the money, thanks to the Vanderburgh Community Foundation, to purchase blood pressure monitors with extra large cuffs for use in the Evansville clinic with our larger clients.
Thanks to the Vanderburgh Community Foundation, we have been able to better equip our Evansville clinic to not just adequately care for our clients, but provide them with the excellence of care all human beings deserve.
