Call for Spirit of Giving Award Nominations

This year, our Board of Trustees has announced two Spirit of Giving Awards: the Community Impact Award and the "Roll Up Your Sleeves" Award. A description and criteria for each are provided below. These awards recognize our vision of a community in which becoming a philanthropist and volunteer is as valued and desirable a goal as success in athletics, business, entertainment, or any other field.

Community Impact Award
This award honors an organization or group that has demonstrated commitment and success through a specific initiative or project that is making a difference in the quality of life in our community. Specifically, this award will be given to an organization or group which has had as its emphasis serving or impacting populations in the neighborhoods near downtown Evansville. Selection is based on the following:

1.  Evidence of the impact the organization or group's initiative or project has had on the quality of life for those in our community. Philanthropic projects or initiatives which have had a particularly significant impact upon improving the quality of life for residents of a neighborhood or neighborhoods in the areas in and/or around downtown Evansville will be given priority consideration.

2.  Evidence of success in recruiting and motivating volunteers and donors to support the specific initiative and/or project.

3.  Significance to the community at large of the impact of the specific initiative and/or project.

"Roll Up Your Sleeves" Award
This award recognizes a servant leader who has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to serving others through significant volunteer activities for several nonprofit organizations which advance the quality of life for residents of Vanderburgh County. Specifically, this award will recognize a person who provides services in a volunteer capacity directly to those individuals who are the focus of the organization's mission. Selection is based on the following:

1.  Significant volunteer activities for more than one local nonprofit agency which demonstrate the individual's willingness to roll up his or her sleeves and contribute directly to the provision of services to the specific population or individuals whom the agencies serve. This individual volunteers without expectation of recognition and provides selfless work behind the scenes.

2.  Impact on the quality of life for residents of Vanderburgh County due to the individual's volunteer activities.

3.  Encouragement and motivation of others to volunteer to support programs and local nonprofit agencies in Vanderburgh County.

If you know of someone who meets these criteria, nominate him or her now! You may use our online nomination form to submit your nominees.  Or, if you prefer, you can download and mail the form by clicking here.  You may offer more than one nomination, but must submit a separate form for each one.

The deadline for nominations is August 13, 2010.
