Photo SuhrheinrichThe Evansville community lost beloved philanthropist Dallas Bower Suhrheinrich in 2003. She was 91 years old. The Suhrheinrich name was and continues to be well-known throughout Evansville, due mostly to her pursuits to advance education.

Many remember the substantial support she gave during her lifetime to various local organizations, such as her million-dollar gifts to the University of Evansville and to the University of Southern Indiana.

Others remember the many, many organizations she supported with the gift of her time, such as the Deaconess Hospital Foundation, Reitz Home, Old Courthouse Auxiliary, Conrad Baker Foundation, Harlaxton Society, and the Women's Society at Trinity United Methodist Church. She also had been a member of the Vanderburgh Community Foundation.

Before she died, Bower-Suhrheinrich created a trust which left $1 million to the Foundation to establish the Bower-Suhrheinrich Fund upon her death. The fund supports perpetual annual grants to Goodwill Industries, the Evansville YWCA, the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra, Trinity United Methodist Church and the Evansville Museum of Arts, History, and Science.
