2010 Lilly Scholars
Only the best and the brightest of Vanderburgh County receive this scholarship award, and these students are to be commended on their exceptional academic performance, participation in school activities, their character, community activities, writing skills, and personal poise. We offer our congratulations to the following scholars for their outstanding achievements!
Caitlyn Hammack
Caitlyn Hammack is the daughter of Rashelle Hammack and Chadwick Hammack. She has achieved a stellar academic record, while displaying leadership, talent, and service to her community. A graduating senior at Memorial High School, Caitlyn Hammack is a member of National Honor Society, Key Club, French Club, and was committee chair of Snowflake Drug Awareness. Along with volunteering for the Teen Advisory Council and St. Mary's Candy Striper program, she is a member of the Thespian Society, captain of the Debate Team, class representative of the Drama Club, and historian for the Tri-M Music Honors Society, as well as a member of the Cross-Country Team. Caitlyn plans to attend DePauw University this fall.
David Korb
David Korb, son of Jeff and Jennifer Korb, is a graduating senior at Reitz High School, David Korb is president of the Student Council, a member of the National Honor Society and the Deaconess Health Science Institute, and a past member of the Richard Lugar Symposium for Tomorrow's Leaders. Along with lettering in soccer and track, David has been a member of the Teen Advisory Council and is vice president and executive board member this year. He is a youth table leader, speaker, and assistant youth lay director for Evansville Chrysalis; a volunteer basketball coach for Perry Heights Middle School; a past member of the Downtown Implementation Committee; and was a volunteer counselor for a Christian athletic camp. David plans to study marketing and accounting at Butler University in the fall.
Olivia O'Dell
Olivia O'Dell, graduating senior of Memorial High School, is the daughter of Tim and Barbarina O'Dell. Olivia is president of Student Council and the Key Club, a member of the National Honor Society, and a class officer, along with being a junior-senior mentor and school ambassador. In addition to being an accomplished violinist, Olivia has been a member of the Debate Team, participated in her school's theater productions, and lettered in tennis. She is a SMILE on Down Syndrome and Buddy Walk for Down Syndrome volunteer, Memorial Coordinator of "Souper" Supper, and a volunteer for Trick or Treat for Cans. Olivia plans to pursue a degree in speech and hearing sciences at Indiana University in the fall.
William Sievern
William Sievern, son of Bill and Luann Sievern, is a senior at Memorial High School, where he has demonstrated leadership and initiative. He is a member of Student Council, the National Honor Society, German Club, Junior Mentor Program, Snowflake Drug Awareness, Tri-M Music Honor Society, and has participated in his school's drama club and musical productions. Will is an accomplished pianist and athlete and has been recognized with several awards and accolades. Among his community activities, including volunteer work for the Evansville Rescue Mission and Salvation Army, Will is a Boy Scout and was selected from among 99 Eagle Scouts to represent the Buffalo Trace Council during centennial celebration activities last February and was also chosen to be master of ceremonies for the Distinguished Citizen's Award Banquet, which featured keynote speaker Laura Bush. This fall, Will plans to enter the biology/pre-med program at the University of Notre Dame.
